My name is Anthony Horowitz. I'm the author of the Alex Rider
series and I'm one of the many writers who are supporting Up for Reading
Children born with Down syndrome face many difficult challenges and
anything we can do to help support these young people must be worthwhile.

Award-winning children's author Michael Horowitz is supporting
Up for Reading
in a number of ways. In particular, he has donated
the prize of a school visit to one lucky school.
Anthony Horowitz is a prolific and hugely successful writer. He is perhaps best known for his highly
successful Alex Rider novels including Stormbreaker
(also made into a feature film starring another
Up for Reading
supporter Damian Lewis
as villain Yassen Gregorovich).
He has received
numerous awards for the Alex Rider series including
the Bookseller Association/Nielsen Author of the
Year Award 2007 and Children's Book of the Year
Award for the Alex Rider book Ark Angel at the 2006 Children's
Book Award. In addition to the Alex Rider books,
he has also written other children's books including
Groosham Grange, the Diamond Brothers
series and The Power of Five series.
Anthony also wrote the television series Foyle's
War and has also written episodes of
several popular TV crime series, including
Poirot, Murder in Mind, Midsomer Murders and
Murder Most Horrid, along various stage
plays and film scripts.
