Ben is Up for Reading
Children everywhere are taking part in Up for Reading.
One of the children taking part was
Ben from Gloucestershire, who raised £60 by being Up for Reading.
With his parents' help Ben wrote to us to tell us how...
Dear Down Syndrome Education International
My name is Ben.
I did my reading every day - and some days I did
45 minutes! I love reading.
I read Thomas the Tank
engine stories, Charlie and Lola,
The Gruffalo,
A
Squash and A Squeeze, and lots of others.
Mummy and
Daddy read the book to me first, and then I turn the
pages and tell them what happens on each page.
I am learning to read words. In the
Up for Reading week I learned to
read 24 words I had never seen before, so I was very
proud of myself.
Thank you for all the work you do to help Mummy
and Daddy help me with my learning.
I love to learn
and I am looking forward to going to school.
I enclose my sponsor form and a cheque for £60.
Very best wishes,
Ben.
